The Center for Nonprofit AI ("CNAI," "we," "us") operates centerfornonprofitai.org. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it in plain language because that is how we think privacy policies should be written.
Information you provide directly. We collect information only when you choose to submit it:
Newsletter signup. Your email address, used to send The Nonprofit AI Brief.
Contact form. Your name, email address, organization, and message, used to respond to your inquiry.
AI Readiness Assessment. Your name, email address, organization, role, your answers to the assessment questions, and your resulting score and readiness stage. We use this to generate and email you your results.
Guest author applications. The information you submit through our Write for CNAI form, including your name, email, professional profile link, writing sample link, and pitch, used to evaluate your application.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting provider maintains standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps) for security and operations. If you consent where required, we also use website analytics (see "Cookies and analytics" below).
We use the information you provide to deliver what you asked for: sending the newsletter you subscribed to, responding to your message, emailing your assessment results, or reviewing your guest author application. We also use it to operate and improve the website and our content.
Assessment data and research. As disclosed when you take the assessment, we may use assessment responses in aggregate, anonymized form in CNAI research and benchmarking. Aggregate means combined across many respondents; anonymized means your name, email, and organization are removed. We will never publish or share individual responses in a way that identifies you or your organization.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with AI vendors, advertisers, or data brokers.
If you subscribe to The Nonprofit AI Brief, or opt in when taking the assessment, we will send you our newsletter. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. Transactional emails, such as your assessment results, are sent once in response to your request and do not subscribe you to anything unless you opted in.
We may use a reputable email service provider (such as Beehiiv) to deliver the newsletter. Your email address is shared with that provider solely for delivery.
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. We may use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are read most. Analytics data is aggregated and does not tell us who you are. You can block analytics cookies in your browser settings or with common browser extensions without affecting your use of the site.
Form submissions are stored in a secured database with our website hosting provider in the United States and are accessible only to CNAI. Copies of submissions are also delivered to our private email inbox so we can respond to you.
We rely on a small number of service providers to operate: a website hosting company, an email provider, an analytics provider, and a newsletter delivery platform. Each receives only the information needed to perform its function. We do not permit them to use your information for their own purposes.
We keep form submissions and assessment responses for as long as they are useful for the purposes described above, and we delete or anonymize them when they are no longer needed. You may request deletion at any time (see below).
You may request a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To make any of these requests, reach us through the contact form and we will respond promptly. Depending on where you live, these rights may also be guaranteed to you by law; we honor these requests regardless of where you live.
This website is intended for nonprofit professionals and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the entire site and access controls on stored data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect what you share with us.
Our content may link to other websites, including research sources we cite. Their privacy practices are their own, and this policy does not apply to them.
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes will be noted prominently.
