Free Tool for Association Leaders

How much of your member value could AI replace?

Associations have spent a century selling curated expertise. A member can now get a competent answer instantly and for free. This test sorts every benefit you offer into what AI has already commoditized, what is still contestable, and what it cannot touch.

  • Rate four to twelve of your member benefits
  • Immediate portfolio profile, no waiting for a report
  • An original CNAI framework with published scoring

The three tiers

Commoditized by AI · Contestable · AI-Resistant

Every benefit you rate is placed into one of the three, and the mix becomes a portfolio defensibility score. You learn what to concede, what to fight for, and what to invest behind.

What the test measures

Each benefit is judged on three things. Substitutability, meaning where members would actually turn if you stopped offering it. Foundation, meaning whether it runs on public information you repackage or on data and authority only you hold. And human core, meaning how much of its value comes from relationships, judgment and recognition rather than content.

Those three are weighted, not averaged, and the weighting is published in full along with every question and the scoring formula.

Why this is the executive question

Most AI advice for associations treats it as an operations upgrade: write the newsletter faster, answer tickets sooner. That is worth doing and it does not address the harder problem. When the cost of a good-enough answer falls to zero, an intermediary has to prove it adds something the free answer does not.

Efficiency does not solve that. You can produce a commoditized product faster and it is still commoditized.

What happens with your results

Immediate, and yours to keep

Your portfolio profile appears on screen as soon as you finish, and we email you a copy with every benefit and its tier so you can bring it to a board or staff conversation. Responses may be used in aggregate, anonymized form in CNAI research. They are never sold and never shared with vendors.

This is a diagnostic, not a verdict. It is built to start an argument inside your leadership team about what members are actually paying for, which is a conversation most associations have not had yet.

Find out what your members are still paying for.
